Visual Controls

Freecam provides multiple visual camera control systems that allow users to adjust how the camera behaves and how the scene is visually rendered.

These controls are available through the UI and can be configured through the Config.UI.access settings.

Visual controls are designed to provide cinematic flexibility while recording or capturing screenshots.

Movement Speed

The movement speed control allows users to adjust how fast the camera moves through space.

This parameter works together with the movement multipliers defined in the system configuration.

Movement speed affects:

  • forward movement
  • backward movement
  • vertical movement
  • lateral movement

The UI allows dynamic adjustments while the camera is active.

Rotation Speed

Rotation speed controls how quickly the camera responds to mouse movement.

Higher values make the camera rotate faster, while lower values provide more precise cinematic control.

This setting is useful when switching between:

  • cinematic recordings
  • precise camera framing
  • fast camera movement

Shift Boost

The shift boost temporarily increases the camera movement speed while holding the Shift key.

This allows users to quickly reposition the camera without permanently changing the movement speed setting.

Typical use cases include:

  • repositioning the camera quickly
  • moving between different scene locations
  • speeding up camera travel during setup

Depth of Field (DOF)

Depth of Field allows the camera to simulate focus blur, creating cinematic separation between foreground and background elements.

The DOF system allows adjustment of:

  • near focus distance
  • far focus distance
  • blur strength

These settings help highlight subjects and create a more cinematic composition.

Motion Blur

Motion blur simulates camera movement blur when the camera moves quickly.

This effect can improve cinematic recordings by making camera transitions appear smoother.

Motion blur can be enabled or disabled through the UI.

Cinema Mode

Cinema mode modifies the camera behavior to better suit cinematic recordings.

When enabled, the camera movement becomes smoother and more suitable for controlled cinematic shots.

This mode is typically used when:

  • recording videos
  • capturing cinematic scenes
  • creating trailers or promotional content

Summary

Visual Controls provide users with tools to adjust camera behavior and cinematic parameters in real time.

These controls allow creators to fine-tune the camera for different types of content, including:

  • cinematic recordings
  • screenshots
  • scene composition
  • visual storytelling
